CANCELLED: Spinning Yarns: Hands-on Workshop Using Historic Tools
PLEASE NOTE: Due to the evolving situation with the COVID-19 outbreak, we are cancelling this program. We hope to reschedule that event at a later date. If you have questions, please contact Laura Rooney, email@example.com, (802) 479-8524.
Please join us for an exciting, hands-on activity with fiber experts Nora Rubinstein, Meredith Moore, Andrea Myklebust, and Tansy Sears.
We look forward to helping museum professionals, historical society members, knitters, weavers and others understand and use the walking or great wheels and treadle-style spinning wheels that may be in their homes and collections. At this hands-on workshop, attendees will learn how to “read" the history of the wheels from their design, what fibers they were designed to spin, and how to provide basic care and restoration. We want to encourage attendees to take these wheels off their museum pedestals and to use them as the tools they were designed to be. We invite attendees to bring pictures of the wheels in their collections and to get their hands spinning.
This program will fill up quickly, so please reserve your spot before March 28, 2020.
Light refreshments and discussion will begin promptly at 2:00 p.m.
Registration Fee: $10 per person, Free for VHS members.
