Care of Textiles Workshop
Support for the workshop provided by the Oakland Foundation.
Learn the basics of caring for the textiles in your collections and participate in hands-on activities and demonstrations. Participants will learn about appropriate techniques for handling, storing and displaying collections. Options for cleaning and basic repair will also be explored.
Presenter: Teresa Greene, VHS Collections Manager
Teresa Teixeira Greene started as Collections Manager at the Vermont Historical Society in December of 2019. She received her BA from The College of William and Mary and her MA in History of Decorative Arts from the Smithsonian Associates. She previously held positions within the collections and curatorial departments of Colonial Williamsburg (Mellon Curatorial Fellow), James Madison’s Montpelier (Curator of Collections), and The Charleston Museum (Curator of Historical Textiles).
Virtual Class 1: Basic Care & Storage
June 2, 10-11 am
Virtual Class 2: Cleaning & Repairing Textiles

In-Person Lab: Hands-on storage, cleaning, & labeling activities
Vermont History Center, Barre, VT
June 16, 10 am -12 pm or 1-3 pm session
Registrants can sign-up for just the two virtual classes or for virtual class + a 2-hour lab session. In-person sessions will be limited to 10 people each. Masks will be required.
Virtual Classes only (includes both): $10 VHS Members, $25 Non-members
Virtual Classes + Lab Session: $20 VHS Members, $50 Non-members
